WeShareBooks Credit & Penalty System Rules

Last updated: August 2026

1. Credit Score Mechanics

  • Successful Sharing: +1 Credit when a book listed by a user is successfully borrowed and returned for the first time.
  • Unlisting Adjustment: -1 Credit if a user unlists a book that previously earned a credit point (to maintain ecosystem integrity and prevent point farming).
  • Unverified Loss: -1 Credit for responsible parties when a lost book claim is marked as “Unverified / Unknown” by a community admin.

2. Fair Borrowing Limits & Suspensions

  • Borrowing Limit: Standard members may borrow a maximum of 3 books simultaneously to ensure fair distribution across the community.
  • Borrowing Freeze: If a member’s credit score drops to -3, their borrowing privileges (“Request borrow”) will be automatically frozen by the system until their credit is restored through community contributions.

3. “Not Received” Audit Trail

Clicking “Not Received” automatically resets the order status and generates an immutable audit log. Accounts exhibiting repetitive “Not Received” flags or suspicious pattern behavior are subject to review, restriction, or account closure by volunteer admins or the Organization.
