WeShareBooks Community & Volunteer Admin Guidelines
Last updated: August 2026
1. Principles of Community Autonomy
Communities on WeShareBooks are non-profit, neighbor-driven book-sharing ecosystems. Members are expected to practice mutual respect, care for shared books, return books promptly, and prioritize safety during offline exchanges (e.g., using public drop-boxes or daytime meetups).
2. Volunteer Admin Code of Conduct
- Role & Volunteer Protections: Community Owners and Admins serve as unpaid volunteers supporting the non-profit mission. Admins have authority to manage local listings, review lost book reports, and oversee community bookshelves.
- Privilege Limitations: The admin privilege allowing bypass of the standard “3-book borrowing limit” is strictly reserved for managing community book backlogs or public drop-boxes, and must never be used for personal book hoarding.
- Neutrality & Governance: Volunteer Admins must act impartially when reviewing lost book claims (“Verified Lost” vs. “Unverified / Unknown”). Admin decisions represent internal community self-governance; neither the volunteer admins nor the Organization shall be held personally liable for internal community rulings made in good faith.
